Learn what Triglycerides measures and how it fits into your health data.

What is Triglycerides?

Triglycerides (TG) are a type of fat (lipid) found in the blood, primarily carried by VLDL particles. Elevated fasting triglycerides are a marker of metabolic dysfunction, often linked to insulin resistance, high carbohydrate intake, and increased cardiovascular risk. Optimal levels are generally considered much lower than standard guidelines, ideally <100 mg/dL, and potentially even <75 mg/dL for peak metabolic health and longevity. Note: Results are less reliable if not measured in a fasted state (8-12 hours).
