Goodlabs partners with participating blood donation centers to offer free health testing with eligible blood donations. Schedule your donation through Goodlabs, visit the selected donor center, and let the staff know you’re a Goodlabs donor. The blood samples needed for your free Goodlabs testing will be collected during the same donation visit, so there is no separate appointment or separate blood draw required. After your eligible donation is completed, your selected tests will be processed and your results will be available in your Goodlabs account.

Yes, when it comes with an eligible blood donation. There is no charge for the included testing and no subscription is required. Testing without a donation is paid, and you only pay for the tests you choose.

No. You do not need to visit your doctor or obtain a separate order to receive the free testing offered through the Goodlabs donation program.

You can choose one available donation panel or up to two eligible individual tests. The available options are shown when you book your donation through Goodlabs. Please note that free donation panels include a more limited set of tests than the paid versions of Goodlabs panels.

It depends on the donation center. Eligible whole-blood donors at Vitalant, Inova, Bloodworks Northwest, and LifeStream can generally receive free testing every 56 days. At Blood Assurance, free testing is available every 6 months, up to two times per calendar year. Donation eligibility is determined by the donation center at each visit.

The donor center will check whether you meet its hemoglobin requirements before you donate. If your level does not meet the requirement that day, you may be deferred from donating and can ask the donor center when you may be eligible to try again.

Yes. Donors generally need to weigh at least 110 lbs (50 kg). Additional eligibility requirements may apply depending on the donor and type of donation, and the donor center will confirm eligibility during screening.

Not necessarily. Some deferrals are temporary, while others may have different requirements. A previous deferral does not automatically mean you are currently ineligible. The donor center will apply its current policies and determine your eligibility.

If the donor center determines that you cannot donate that day, the donation will not be completed. Because free Goodlabs testing is tied to completing an eligible blood donation, your free tests will not be processed from that appointment.

Yes. An appointment is required for the Goodlabs donation program. Please schedule through Goodlabs so your donation and free testing are properly connected. Walk-ins are not eligible for free Goodlabs testing.

The actual blood draw typically takes about 8 to 10 minutes. The entire visit, including registration, eligibility screening, the donation, and refreshments and recovery afterward, usually takes about one hour. Visit times may vary by donor center.

No. Unless you’ve been given different instructions for a specific reason, you should not fast for your blood donation. Eat normally beforehand, stay well hydrated, and follow any preparation instructions provided by the donor center.

Let the donor center staff know before your donation. They are experienced in helping donors who are nervous about needles or have concerns about dizziness or fainting and can help you through the donation process.

Your donation is managed by the blood donation center. After collection, donated blood is processed according to the center’s procedures and may be used to help patients who need blood products.
