  • Free donation testing is available to eligible donors at participating centers: one available donation panel or up to two eligible individual tests. Donation panels are more limited than paid panels.
  • No* means that we could not find any public documentation of these features as of 2026-10-26.
  • Function's 160+ annual total spans its annual visit (100+ tests) and mid-year visit (60+ tests), including repeated measurements. Its test library also includes calculated results. The $365 advertised price is described as first-year pricing in its footer; renewal is at the then-current price. Prices checked 2026-10-26.

Goodlabs gives you two ways to get bloodwork, and neither needs a membership. Donate blood at a partner blood center and get your chosen tests run from the same visit for free, or buy only the tests you want and get them drawn at a partner lab. Function Health sells one annual membership that covers 160+ lab tests across two visits a year, with clinician notes on your results. Both Goodlabs paths come with a free account where you can track results and ask Barry, our AI assistant, about them.

At Goodlabs, you can:

  • Donate blood for free testing. Choose from the tests available with an eligible donation.
  • Buy the tests you want. Order individual tests or panels, with the full price before checkout.
  • Get help understanding your results. Read biomarker explanations and ask Barry questions for free.

Function offers a yearly testing program. Goodlabs offers free testing through eligible donations and paid testing without a membership. Regardless of if you order tests with Goodlabs, you can access free tools to monitor your results. You can even upload bloodwork from outside of Goodlabs into the platform.

Goodlabs has no membership fee. Function charges annually.

Function advertises its first year at $365, with renewal at the then-current price. Testing in New York and New Jersey costs more. It covers an annual visit with 100+ tests and a mid-year visit with 60+ tests. Add-ons in addition to your membership cost extra with varying amounts per the add-on selected. Goodlabs, on the other hand, has no annual fee. Donation testing costs $0 for eligible donors, and paid tests cost the price of the tests you pick plus a draw fee per visit.

Use Goodlabs-made panels when you want a broad starting point, and individual tests when you want to check specific markers. You can repeat paid testing without committing to a yearly program.

Goodlabs offers donation testing and paid panels you choose

Function's membership starts with a broad panel and includes scheduled follow-up testing, with add-on tests available on demand. With Goodlabs, you can get free testing through a donation or buy the tests you want directly.

Free testing through donation

Book a donation through Goodlabs at a partner blood center. Today that means select Vitalant, Inova, Blood Assurance, Bloodworks Northwest, and LifeStream locations. The tubes for your tests are drawn during the same donation, so there is no second appointment or second needle. Your blood goes to patients who need it, and your results go to your Goodlabs account.

Eligible donors choose one donation panel or up to two eligible individual tests, at no cost. The blood center pays Goodlabs a referral fee for each completed donation, and that fee covers your testing. Donation panels include fewer tests than the paid versions, and the center decides who can donate that day. You can get free testing every 56 days at most partner centers, or twice a year at Blood Assurance.

Buy directly from Goodlabs

Pick individual tests, a Goodlabs-made panel, or your own custom panel. You pay for the tests you choose plus a draw fee per visit, with the full total shown before checkout. You don't need a doctor's visit or insurance. Your blood is drawn at a partner lab: Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference (BioReference in New York and New Jersey).

Barry can help you choose tests, put together a panel, find available appointments, and book at participating locations.

Share a Goodlabs panel or try someone else's

With Goodlabs, build your own panel and share a link so friends or family can use the same selection. You can also discover public panels made by others and use their test lists. Shared panels contain the tests and never your results.

Goodlabs includes Barry, with clinician review coming soon

Goodlabs' optional, personal clinician review and telehealth are coming soon. Today, Goodlabs includes biomarker explanations and Barry, a free AI assistant you can ask about your results.

You can see how your results change over time in your free Goodlabs account. If you have older lab reports, you can also upload them for free to add context.

Function also connects to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. With Goodlabs, you too can connect the AI you already use to your biomarker values and history, or keep asking Barry in your free account. You can start with uploaded reports, without buying tests or a membership.

Should you choose Goodlabs or Function Health?

Choose Goodlabs if: you want free bloodwork through an eligible donation, or paid tests without an annual membership. Start with a Goodlabs-made panel or pick individual tests, with free tracking and Barry between visits.

Choose Function Health if: you want a pre-paid, scheduled twice-yearly testing program, with access to additional scans as add-ons.
