What is VLDL-C (Calculated)?

Very-Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (VLDL-C) represents the cholesterol content within VLDL particles, which are triglyceride-rich lipoproteins produced by the liver. VLDL-C is often estimated as Triglycerides / 5 (in mg/dL, less accurate if TGs > 400). High VLDL-C levels generally reflect high triglyceride levels and are associated with increased cardiovascular risk and metabolic syndrome. Lower levels (<15 mg/dL) are preferred.
