Learn what Rh Type measures and how it fits into your health data.

What is Rh Type?

Rh type (Rhesus factor) indicates whether the Rh D antigen is present on your red blood cells. If present, you are Rh positive (+); if absent, you are Rh negative (-). Combined with ABO blood type, this determines your complete blood type (e.g., A+, O-). Rh factor is critical for blood transfusion compatibility and pregnancy management, as Rh incompatibility between mother and fetus can cause hemolytic disease of the newborn.
