What is Absolute Monocytes?

Absolute Monocyte Count (AMC) measures the total number of monocytes per volume of blood (WBC count x Monocyte %). Elevated AMC (monocytosis) can occur in chronic inflammatory conditions (like autoimmune diseases), chronic infections (like tuberculosis), recovery from marrow suppression, and certain leukemias (like CMML). Low monocyte counts (monocytopenia) are less common but can occur with certain infections or treatments.
