What is Trichomonas vaginalis?

Trichomonas vaginalis RNA detection test identifies the presence of T. vaginalis, the parasite that causes trichomoniasis (trich). Trichomoniasis is a common curable sexually transmitted infection. A "not detected" result is normal. "Detected" results indicate active trich infection requiring antibiotic treatment. This NAAT test is more sensitive than traditional wet mount microscopy.
