What is Waist-to-Height Ratio?
Waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) is calculated by dividing waist circumference by height. It is a simple and effective screening tool for cardiometabolic risk. A ratio of 0.4 to 0.5 is generally considered healthy, indicating lower risk of obesity-related cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and mortality. Values above 0.5 suggest increased central adiposity and elevated health risks, while values below 0.4 can indicate being underweight or having too little abdominal tissue and are also outside the healthy range.
