What is Phosphorylated tau217 (p-tau217), Plasma (Lumipulse)?

Phosphorylated Tau 217 (p-tau217) measured by the Fujirebio Lumipulse G immunoassay. p-tau217 is a form of the tau protein that becomes abnormally phosphorylated in Alzheimer's disease and rises in blood as amyloid and tau pathology accumulate. In this test it is reported alongside beta-amyloid 42 and interpreted through the p-tau217/beta-amyloid 42 ratio, which is FDA cleared to help assess amyloid pathology in adults aged 50 and older with signs or symptoms of cognitive decline.
