Learn what Omega-3 Index measures and how it fits into your health data.

What is Omega-3 Index?

Omega-3 Index measures the percentage of the key long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) in red blood cell membranes. It reflects long-term omega-3 status (over ~120 days). A higher Omega-3 Index is strongly associated with lower risk of cardiovascular events, particularly sudden cardiac death, and may also support brain health and reduce inflammation. An index of 8-12% is considered optimal for cardiovascular protection and general health.
