Learn what Desmosterol measures and how it fits into your health data.

What is Desmosterol?

Desmosterol is a precursor molecule in the final step of cholesterol synthesis. Elevated levels, typically reported as an absolute value (e.g., ug/mL or mg/L), can indicate increased cholesterol production (synthesis) by the body. This marker, along with Lathosterol, helps assess the rate of endogenous cholesterol synthesis. Ensure you are inputting the absolute value (e.g., ug/mL or mg/L), not a ratio relative to total cholesterol.
