Learn what Coronary Artery Calcium Score measures and how it fits into your health data.

What is Coronary Artery Calcium Score?

The Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Score, measured using the Agatston method from a cardiac CT scan, quantifies calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. A score of zero indicates no detectable calcified plaque. Higher scores correlate with a greater burden of coronary atherosclerosis and increased cardiovascular event risk. It is a one-time or periodic imaging-based marker, not a blood test.
