What is ANA Pattern?

Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA) Pattern describes the staining pattern observed under microscope when ANA are present (e.g., homogeneous, speckled, nucleolar). Different patterns can be associated with specific autoimmune diseases (e.g., homogeneous with SLE, centromere with systemic sclerosis/CREST). The pattern provides clues for further specific antibody testing.
